What are the methods of Hair transplant?
Hair transplant procedure can be done broadly by two methods.

FUT method: Follicle unit transplantation also known as strip method of harvesting. In this, a strip of scalp skin with hair follicles is cut. Individual follicles are removed from it by the technician under a microscope.

What is the process of hair transplant?

1st is extraction of hair follicles from the donor area. The back of head is a good donor area. The hair is trimmed to about 1mm length. After adequate local anaesthesia motorised punches are used.These individual follicles are then removed from the scalp.

In the second step, the frontal hair line designing is done. Slits are made up to receive hair follicles. This can be done with SP-90 blade or 18–19-gauge needles.

Hair follicles are then implant in the slits prepared.
What is the post operative care after the procedure?
The post operator care includes medicines. These are antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and pain killers.
Donor area must be cleaned, and anti-bacterial ointment needs to be applied.
The recipient area needs to be kept moist with frequent saline sprays. This decreases the chances of itching and irritation.
When the grafts stay well hydrated, and the uptake of grafts is better.
Does the process of hair transplant pain?
The entire process is done under local anaesthesia. There is minimal to no pain. We use various methods to ensure that patients do not have much pain.
How often can we see the result after hair transplant?
The newly grafted hair fall in about 10-15 days leaving the cells behind.
By the 1st month the hair start growing at the grafted area. The donor area by this time has normal dense hair . The hair gradually grow in both the places .Even the follicles which are taken from the donor area are in various stages of hair growth. Hence, they will undergo the same cycle of growth and fall.
The best results are seen about 10-12 months from the surgery.
