Hair fall or hair loss  is a common condition where a person experiences a noticeable loss of hair from their scalp .

There are many types of hair loss, ranging from gradual thinning over time to sudden and significant shedding. Some types of hair loss are temporary and can be reversed, while others are permanent.

What is the main reason of hair loss?

The different reasons for hair loss are :

1. Genetics: The most common cause of hair fall is genetics. If your family has a history of hair loss, you may be more likely to experience it yourself.  Male pattern baldness known as Androgenic alopecia is a common example.

2. Hormonal changes: Changes in hormones can also cause hair fall. This is why hair fall is common during pregnancy, menopause, and thyroid problems.

3. Stress: Physical or emotional stress can cause hair fall. This is because stress can disrupt the hair growth cycle and cause hair follicles to enter a resting phase(Telogen).

4. Nutritional deficiencies: Nutritional deficiencies, especially in iron, zinc, and biotin, can lead to hair fall.

5. Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as alopecia areata, scalp psoriasis, and fungal infections, can cause hair fall.

6. Medications: Some medications, such as chemotherapy drugs, blood thinners, and antidepressants, can cause hair fall as a side effect.

7. Hairstyles and hair treatments: Certain hairstyles, like tight braids or ponytails, and hair treatments, like chemical straightening or coloring, can damage the hair and cause it to fall out. This is known as tractional alopecia.

Males and females are both affected by this. Sometimes the hair loss becomes permanent and irreversible , specially f the hair follicles are damaged. It is important to address this problem as soon as it is detected.
